Shoreline By-law & Community Action Fund

The Shoreline By-law, which will impose strict and costly restrictions on exterior site alterations for shoreline properties, was approved by Council in May 2025. The related Zoning By-law and Official Plan Amendment have been appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). FoTTSA has been granted party status, and we will continue to support our community at the OLT hearing scheduled for early April 2027. Although the research required to support our case comes at a significant cost, the potential savings to each individual in the long run will be significant. Having each beach included in the study can be considered a long-term asset — reducing the need for individual property owners to retain their own shoreline engineers for future development applications.
