MPAC INFORMATION SESSION FOR WATERFRONT OWNERS IN TINY: MPAC representatives will provide a presentation and background information on the assessments of waterfront properties in Tiny and will address individual property owner’s concerns. The date and time have been set:
Saturday May 27, 2006
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Wyebridge Community Centre
8340 County Road 93
REVIEW OF SHORE PARKING ARRANGEMENTS: Between 8 and 10 a.m. prior to the April 24th and May 8th meetings of Council, Council members agreed to visit points on the shore where significant changes in parking arrangements have been made since the Parking Strategy was introduced in 1999. These “road trips” are to familiarize them with the situation on the ground. It is our understanding that they will then discuss the principles upon which parking allotments are made and make changes.
NORTH SIMCOE GEESE MANAGEMENT TASK FORCE GETS ASSISTANCE: In response to a report from Terry Breckenridge and Rodger Yeatman, Tiny’s representatives on the Task Force, Council decided to appoint a member of staff to liaise with them and to help with compiling data about geese.
COUNCIL REMUNERATION INCREASED: Basic salaries for our Council representatives have been raised a little, and will be as follows for the incoming Council after this fall’s municipal election:
Mayor $21,728.21
Deputy Mayor $17,550.44
Councillors $16,318.32
In addition to their salaries, Members of Council are reimbursed for attendance at some committee meetings and for mileage related to township business. (There is no payment for their attendance at Committee of the Whole and Regular Meetings of Council as these are viewed as being part of the basic job.)
FUNDING RECEIVED FOR ROADS AND BRIDGES: The Township has received $383,961 from Move Ontario – Improving Roads and Bridges.
ZONING BY-LAW UPDATE: There were thirteen letters of appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board regarding the new Zoning By-law. As these are site-specific, it should be possible to bring the new Zoning By-law fully into effect quite quickly for the balance of the Township. In the meantime both old and new By-laws are in effect.
PUBLIC MEETING RE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE OFFICIAL PLAN AND ZONING BY-LAW WITH REGARD TO SITE 41: This meeting concerned the amendments to OP and Zoning By-laws that would allow the County’s Dumpsite 41 to proceed under certain conditions, and also concerned an extension of the Interim Control By-law which forbids construction of a dumpsite at Site 41 for another year to April 11th, 2007. The Amendments establish buffer zones and eliminate from the active part of the site the problematic northwest corner where water pressure is low. They also impose Holding provisions on the land and identify requirements that must be met if the Holding provisions and Site Plan Controls are to be lifted and the dumpsite to be prepared and opened. In addition, they make it clear that, if the proposed dumpsite does not open, the land will revert to agricultural uses.
Among the letters received about the proposed amendments were two from County officials, both objecting to the amendments. Eight residents expressed concerns about the proposed dumpsite.
