Questions posed by FoTTSA to the developers of the proposed Christian Island wind farm

The map and text on the website of Ventus Energy
(www.ventusenergy.ca) concerning the Christian Island Wind Park has
aroused considerable, possibly unnecessary, concern. And I wonder
whether you might be able to allay that concern.

The map shows a broad transmission corridor from Christian Island to
Waubaushene. People are worried about this, and would like to know a
number of things.

Who owns and controls the corridor?

Do the municipalities that surround it have any power over its use?

Are the hydro poles already in place sufficient to carry "two
overhead lines running side-by-side, extending from the Cedar Point
area to Waubaushene in the Township of Tay?"

If they are not, what sort of tower will be required to carry these
lines?

Who has jurisdiction over the submarine cable that is proposed to
link the Christian Island wind generators to the lines in the power
corridor?

Was there an Open House in the fall of 2005 about the Christian
Island Wind Park? The one concerning the proposed Robitaille Wind
Farm was helpful. Similar information about the proposed Christian
Island Wind Park would also be useful. Fifty windmills on one island
sounds appalling, aesthetically, unless people are given some sense
of how tactfully they might be placed.

We did not see The Christian Island Wind Park listed among those
selected from Hydro One's second Request for Proposals. Is the
project still going ahead?
