Response from Jacinta McNairn, MSc of M.K. Ince and Associates Ltd.,
Wind Energy Engineering, working with the developer, Ventus:

Dear Ms. Grant:
Thank you for informing us of the concerns raised by some members of the Tiny Township Shoreline Association. We appreciate the Association's interest in the project and will gladly address the questions raised in your e-mail. We are also happy to answer any questions or address any concerns from residents directly should they wish to contact our office via e-mail, regular mail or telephone.
Your first set of questions concerned the transmission corridor between Christian Island and Waubaushene. Although it is perhaps not clearly shown on the map, the transmission lines would follow only existing corridors and road easements. The medium-voltage power lines would be mounted on single, wooden poles. There would be no large, metal, high-voltage towers and power lines.
The submarine portion of the cable would be laid on the lake bottom. This cable-crossing will be subject to a class environmental assessment conducted by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
I understand the concern expressed by some members of the Tiny Township Shoreline Association for the impacts of the Christian Island Wind Park on the aesthetics of the shoreline. I have attached a photo-montage to this e-mail that will give you an idea of how unobtrusive the wind turbines can be. The turbines shown in the photos are the same size and type as those being proposed for Christian Island. The photo-montage was created using an actual photograph taken from a cottage on the mainland, looking out toward Christian Island. The turbines are depicted to scale, spaced as they would be in the final wind park, and with lighting conditions set to match those in the photograph.
I apologize for not responding sooner to your e-mail. If you have any further questions or concerns, I would be happy to discuss this project with you further.
Sincerely,
Jacinta.
Response from Ravinder Gupta of Hydro One:
January 18th, 2005
Dear Ms. Grant,
In order to connect to our transmission system, Ventus Energy would have to build equipment, elements and facilities to our connection point. The plans proposed by Ventus Energy do not currently involve use of Hydro One equipment, elements and facilities until they reach our connection point at Waubaushene TS. Ventus Energy would build, own and operate such assets which are referred to as being "customer's facilities" in the Transmission System Code.
When Hydro One connects customer's facilities to our transmission system, Hydro One assesses the impact of those facilities on our transmission system and existing customers connected to it. Under the Transmission System Code, Hydro One cannot connect customer's facilities unless the customer has obtained the appropriate approval or authorization of the Electrical Safety Authority.
As such, as there are no Hydro One assets that are currently planned to be shared with Ventus Energy, we are not in a position to respond to your questions.
Yours truly,
Ravinder Gupta
